There is a headless ‘Black Rider’ who is believed to be spotted riding a jet-black, soundless motorbike through the streets.
A young guy named Mikado Ryugamine has an unquenchable desire for the metropolis. He goes to school in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, at the request of Masaomi Kida, a childhood friend.
His dreams appear to have been fulfilled when he sees the Black Rider on his first day in the city.
However, as strange things start happening, regular people like him and the most colorful residents of Ikebukuro become entangled in the chaos that is erupting in their city.
