The Justice League director Zack Snyder is said to have endorsed James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios, in his new plans for the DC Extended Universe. The DC Universe will be rebooted, with a new line-up of movies, television shows, and other projects that will form a cohesive plot, according to Gunn and DC Studios co-head Peter Safran’s announcement.
Gunn claimed in a tweet that he got in touch with Snyder, who backed his choices, during the Snyder Verse era when Snyder was the driving force behind a previous iteration of the DC Universe. “He contacted me to express his support for my choices. He’s a great guy,” Gunn authored.
“Again, he seems happy with the massive world-building he’s doing now.” When Snyder departed Justice League during post-production due to a family tragedy, Warner Bros. chose Joss Whedon to take over directing, ending Snyder’s run with DC.
However, after the 2017 Justice League received a poor review, a fan campaign in favor of the Snyder Cut started, which eventually led to its HBO Max release in 2021. Now that the renowned director has said goodbye to the DC Universe, he has found a home at Netflix with the release of his upcoming sci-fi feature Rebel Moon and the 2021 zombie heist movie Army of the Dead.
Man of Steel and other DCEU movies directed by Zack Snyder is streamable on HBO Max. After the news of Gunn and Safran’s new DC Universe chapter broke, Snyder supporters used the hashtag #SellSnyderVersetoNetflix to call on Warner Bros. to sell the Snyder Verse to Netflix so that the director may carry on with his take on the series.
The idea behind the contract seems to be to let Gunn create his own DC Universe while yet letting the popular brand continue. Snyder recently addressed rumors of a potential return to the DC Universe, saying that Warner Bros.
Discovery had not contacted him but that he was looking forward to seeing their upcoming movies. “As far as I know, which is very little, I’m doing my thing and haven’t had anyone give me a call or anything,” he added. “I’m just wishing them all the best and hoping they make some cool movies.”
