This Guide tells you, how to change save files, to cheat a 100% save slot or whatever you want.

Where to find Savefiles?

On Windows, you find them at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Will_You_Snail. Don’t know where it’s located on other devices. In that folder there are files named like “S3-SaavoGame23-2.sav”. The “S3” in the beginning means, that it’s the third save slot. “S2-SaavoGame23-2.sav” is the second slot, “SaavoGame23-2.sav” is the first. you can edit the files using a Text Editor like Notepad.

How do the save files work?

The save file saves everything what the game needs to remember about your save slot. For example, what options you have enabled (1 means enabled, 0 means disabled), What Dialogs and Exploration points you got, how often you died, if you are still counted as a speedrunner, etc. Here’s a list on what which number/word in the save file does:

  • number in the beginning: i have absolutely no idea what that number means, but it doesn’t seem to be important.
  • Game Version: obviously, the games version.
  • Room: could be to tell which room you’re in right now
  • Deaths: total number of times you died in that save slot
  • Difficulty: currently selected difficulty (3: Easy,…,0: Infinitely Easy)
  • Played Voice Lines: lists all voice lines that were already played. number above tells how many it are
  • Difficulty Settings Unlocked: at beginning of game those aren’t unlocked.
  • Level Data: Deaths: saves how often you died in every level. first number always seems to be 128
  • Level Data: Playtime: saves playtime of every level in seconds. first number always seems to be 128
  • Level Data: Unlocked: saves whitch levels are unlocked. Again starting with 128
  • Level Data: Beaten on Difficulty: saves on which difficulty levels were beaten. -1 means you didn’t beat the level yet. first number is always 128
  • Level Data: Beaten on Difficulty Underwater: same with underwater difficulty. starts with 128
  • Level Data: Autodiff-Playtime: saves playtime with auto difficulty setting activated. starts with 128
  • Level Data: Autodiff-Death: how many deaths per level on Auto difficulty. starts with 128
  • Autodiff Levels Till increase: tells squid if he has to increase difficulty while playing on autodiff
  • Timer Game: tells how long you played on that saveslot (in seconds)
  • Timer Chapter: tells how long you’re already stuck in the chapter you’re in (in seconds)
  • Current Chapter: tells which chapter you’re in (in seconds)
  • Timer Level: tells how long you’ve been in the current level (in seconds)
  • Exploration Mode: saves if exploration mode is set on
  • Collected Exploration Points: tells how many and what exploration points you got
  • Game Speed: saves Game Speed setting (1 means 100%) (DON’T set it too low! 0 or negative values will cause an error)
  • Training Mode: saves if training mode is on
  • Unlocked Dialogs: saves how many and what dialogs are unlocked
  • Hat: saves what hat you’re wearing
  • Heart Fixed: tells if squids heard is fixed
  • Final Credits reached: tells if you already went through E19 to reach the credits
  • Pump inverted: saves state of the water pump
  • Speedrun is still legit: saves if you’re still counted as speedrunner
  • Anger Game Level: level in smily minigame
  • Anger Game XP: XP in smily minigame
  • Auto difficulty: saves if autodifficulty is switched on
  • Fixed jump hight: saves fixed jump hight setting

Just copy-paste it in you’re save files folder. You’re welcome.
