The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) presents the annual BAFTA Film Awards. It is an event that honors and celebrates the greatest accomplishments made by people in the UK and throughout the world to the film industry.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has released the longlists for the 2023 film awards on its official website. On January 18, the nomination shortlist will be revealed.
The animated film category is longlist and the lists for other genres have been made public. Several beloved films are among them, like “The Boy and the Heron” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”

All 24 categories—including the competition for animated films—had their longlists revealed. The eight films up for selection in the semifinals are:

On January 5, 2024, the second round of voting will take place to choose the nominees. On January 18, there will be a worldwide broadcast announcing the candidates.
The winners will then be determined by a third round of voting, and they will be unveiled on February 18th during the BAFTA event.
Numerous award organizations have acknowledged The Boy and the Heron, and it has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of “Best Animated Film.” Given the good reviews the movie has received, additional nominations and awards may be forthcoming.
Since Spirited Away, this is the Studio Ghibli movie with the most honors, further cementing Hayao Miyazaki’s status as an iconic animation filmmaker.
