Kawaki and Boruto are seen as teenagers in a new piece of art by Boruto artist Mikio Ikemoto. The artwork only serves to further reinforce the impending nature of the much anticipated event because, as fans are aware, a time jump is feasible.

Fans saw how Kawaki’s righteous devotion led him to betray Naruto, whom he had imprisoned in a distant dimension, in the previous chapter. He is now committed to destroying the whole Ohtsutsuki family, including Boruto, who was momoshiki-implanted.

The latter will surely attempt to both defend himself and exact revenge on his parents at the same time. All of this could only result in the eagerly awaited showdown. One of Boruto’s traits, particularly his wounded eye, is prominently displayed in the artwork. How he obtained the scar and whether or not it will heal are still unknown.

The manga’s first pages hinted at the injured eye of the main character.

The scar on his forehead protector also showed how deep the scar might go. He was also carrying Sasuke’s sword and wearing what appeared to be Sasuke’s cloak. Konoha was in ruins and the Hokage Rock, which has a commanding view of Konoha, had been seriously damaged in the flash-forward.

Although it seemed that neither of them would have preferred it if they had a better alternative, Kawaki and Boruto both made preparations for their combat. In addition, Kawaki claimed that the period of the shinobi had ended, but the latter asserted that he was still one. The flash-forward, however, ended before the combat started.

Kawaki and the main character are seen together in Ikemoto’s recently released illustration. The scar on the old figure is the most obvious change he has made to the character designs. The scar, nevertheless, isn’t as extensive as it was initially depicted in 2016.

Both characters have changed in appearance as a result of adversity and maturation. Boruto’s hair is shorter than it is currently, while Kawaki’s hair is a little bit longer. The picture perfectly captures the tension between Sasuke and Naruto. There are several theories as to how the titular character’s eyes were damaged, however there is currently no information available.

It would seem obvious that Kawaki caused the scar because he wears the jougan in that eye. Because the jougan is the Ohtsutsuki’s special ability, Kawaki’s contempt towards it is reasonable. However, the prologue might be interpreted as their first encounter after a lengthy absence and their first-ever legitimate conflict.

At the same time, that scar could be brought on by Code’s invasion. If not, there’s always the chance that Boruto caused the wounds on himself to keep Momoshiki from dominating him.
