A Japanese action fantasy anime produced by Aniplex and animated by Ufotable, Kimetsu No Yaiba (Demon Slayer) is set in a world of demons. The story revolves around the kind-hearted boy, Kamado Tanjiro, who has his life changed after the murder of his family by an evil demon.

His sister Nezuko survived, but she has turned into a demon herself. In his rage and hatred, Tanjiro vows vengeance on his family. For revenge and to reclaim his sister’s humanity, he joins an organization called the Demon Slayer Corps.

A movie titled Demon Slayer Mugen Train broke all box office records recently. Demon Slayer’s second season is scheduled for release in 2021. If you really cannot bear to wait, these 10 anime/manga are exactly the same as Demon Slayer

10. Sword Art Online

Produced by Aniplex, Sword Art Online is an anime action fantasy series. There is a similarity to your isekai genre, but with a few differences.

A protagonist of Sword Art Online gets trapped inside their game and cannot escape until the game is completed. While the storyline is sloppy, if you are not one of those anime critics who demand perfection, then you may enjoy it. There are some wonderful fight scenes.

Sword Art Online

Kazuto Kirigaya, aka Kirito, is given a rare chance to try a new game with thousands of other players. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, they are unable to log out. In this creation, the creator has locked them inside a game that they cannot leave unless they complete it. Aincrad is not only fun, but it is also dangerous. If you die in the game, you die in the real world as well.

9. Akame Ga Kill

In a similar vein, White Fox Studios has created Akame Ga Kill. Similarly, Akame Ga Kill also features sword-fighting. Like Demon Slayer, it also follows a similar plotline. This anime lacks demons as its most notable difference. In Akame Ga Kill, the focus is more on realistic aspects. It is more concerned with assassins than demons.

Akame Ga Kill

Tatsumi, a nice village boy, gets captivated by Night Raid’s ideals and is also recruited by them. Assassination group Night Raid of the revolutionary army is formed to topple the country’s current prime minister Honest, whose greed has caused tremendous poverty and famine. Along with the night raid, Tatsumi undergoes a series of attempts to take down the emperor, assassins and learns what it is like to be an assassin with an objective.

8. Tokyo Ghoul

The Tokyo Ghoul anime series is an action horror show produced by Studio Pierrot. Some aspects of Tokyo Ghoul are similar to Demon Slayer, while others are very different. In this story, demons eat humans as well, but instead of demons, they are replaced by creatures called Ghouls. MCs in both movies are naïve and get their lives turned upside down from the very beginning.

One of the greatest anti-hero MCs is Kaneki Ken of Tokyo Ghoul. It is considered a masterpiece among manga fans, but the anime version is not the best. The second season of Tokyo Ghoul follows a distinct story from the Manga. As a result, there are many potholes and confusion among the watching public.

Tokyo Ghoul

Ken Kaneki’s life changes after a date with his crush, Rize, who goes in the wrong direction. Kaneki turns out to be Rize’s next prey when she is revealed to be a human-eating Ghoul. The steel beams that hit her and Kaneki, save him from being murdered by Rize. By transferring Rize’s organs into Kaneki, Kaneki is saved.

As a result of the organ transfer, Kaneki becomes a half-ghoul half-human. As a result, he cannot fully integrate into any of the societies.

7. Noragami

Studio Bones’ Noragami is an action fantasy anime. Noragami and demon Slayer share similar sword fights. In Noragami, curses are the focus instead of demons.

Human beings are possessed by the dark energy of curses, leading them down the dark path. There are some great animations in Noragami and the opening theme is on par with Demon Slayer. Although the anime has only two seasons, the manga is ongoing.

It is still unknown when Noragami’s third season will be released. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful mangas of all time.

Noragami

A war God, Yato, starts the Delivery God Yato service where he does anything for 5 yen. Due to the lack of a shrine dedicated to him, he strives every day to achieve his dream of having one.

When a girl named Hiyori saves him from a car, his life changes forever. However, her soul is saved, but in the process, it loses its connection to her body intermittently. As a result, Hiyori demands that Yato must return her back to her normal self. His dream might come true with Hiyori’s help.

6. Goblin Slayer

This is an action fantasy anime produced by White Fox Studio. Goblin Slayer and Demon Slayer are similar-sounding names at first glance.

It focuses on goblins as Demon Slayer does on demons. In comparison to Goblin Slayer, Demon Slayer seems a bit more wholesome and family-friendly. The playthrough for Goblin Slayer is far more horrifying than Demon Slayer.

Goblin Slayer

The story takes place in a world where humans coexist with goblins. Several childish adventures including the raid of a priestess set the story in motion.

Everyone in the group is killed in an ambush. Having given up on her faith, the priestess is saved by Goblin Slayer who destroys the whole Goblin nest.

In company with the priestess, High-Elf, Dwarf, and lizard man, he continues the journey to eradicate every Goblin in the world.

5. Jujutsu Kaisen

Like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen is a new generation action anime. The anime series Jujutsu Kaisen is made by Studio Mappa, known for shows such as Attack on Titan and God of High School.

The feel and setting of Jujutsu Kaisen are similar to that of Demon Slayer. Both of these anime are new generation anime highly regarded in the community, and both are about talented/elite humans fighting demons or curses, which are dangerous for the average person.

Jujutsu Kaisen

In his rush to rescue himself and his friends from a curse, high school student Yuuji Itadori, eats a cursed finger, releasing Sukuna, the king of curses, in the world. Sukuna can be restrained and controlled by Itadori, but the world still views him as a threat and wants him killed. Meanwhile, Satoru Gojo, a powerful Jujutsu sorcerer, has other plans for him.

To help Gojo, Itadori is supposed to eat all the fingers of Sukuna and turn him to be executed so that he also perishes. The way to do so is to enroll in Jujutsu High, a school for jujutsu sorcerers.

4. The Promised Neverland

Since this is not an action anime, The Promised Neverland differs greatly from Demon Slayer. There are similar demon-eating human settings in Promised Neverland with children who are exposed to them at a young age.

This mystery horror anime is produced by Studio Clover Works. Animation, storylines, and soundtracks in the anime are top-notch. Additionally, the pace is terrific and the thrill is just unreal. However, all of this goes away in the second season. However, the first season is recommended.

The Promised Neverland

On the surface, Grace Field looks like any other orphanage. The children were able to live happy life as they had a house, a caring mother, and enough food. But the children were unaware of the dark truth.

The three oldest siblings learn the truth about their mother and try their best to save them and the other children from their beloved Mama.

3. Blue Exorcist

There is a lot of similarity between Blue Exorcist and Demon Slayer. Each show features young characters who are determined and strive to rise to the top of their organizations (Demon Slayers in Kimetsu no Yaima and Blue Exorcist).

In addition to sharing similar MCs, they also have awesome sword fights. Both anime have the similar element of demons.

Blue Exorcist

A troublesome teenager, Rin Okumura, meets demons that cause an upheaval in his life. Upon learning he is the son of Satan; he returns to his father who wants him to accompany him as he conquers the human world.

Choosing not to follow his father, Rin becomes an exorcist with his brother in order to protect the human community.

2. Bleach

Almost everyone has at least seen one episode of Bleach. It’s one of the big 3. Bleach is an anime series by Studio Pierrot that features supernatural action. At first glance, Bleach and Demon Slayer seem quite similar. Each of them possesses similar supernatural malevolent characters, has superb sword fighting skills, and also ranks similarly.

Some watchers may be scared off by the high filler list of the anime since it has 50% of fillers as the anime with the highest fillers. However, Bleach of the big-3 is an exceptional anime that recently will continue in 2021.

Bleach

Ichigo Kurosaki is a typical high school student, who one day gets attacked by an evil spirit, Hollow, that devoured his family. Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, comes to save his family, but he gets injured while defending them.

Rukia offers him the role of soul reaper and now he undertakes it to save his family. Since Rukia cannot regain his powers, Ichigo is tasked with hunting Hollows.

1. Dororo

Dororo is an underrated anime produced by Studio Mappa. I see Dororo as the closest to Demon Slayer. There are amazing sword fights in both of them, and the main character in Demon Slayer fights to save humanity while in Dororo it’s the character himself.

It also follows a similar plot. Nevertheless, if you’re a fan of Demon Slayer and want to watch a similar show, Dororo might be worth a look.

Dororo

A greedy samurai, Daigo Kagemitsu, makes a pact with the demons for power. His prayer was answered by 12 demons and he received the power he desired. Despite having no limbs, no nose, no ears, and even no skin, Kagemitsu’s first child was born.

He was thrown into a river but saved and given a prosthetic limb. In the end, he defeats the demons that once took him as a sacrifice. Each death adds to his humanity. A wandering orphan named Dororo befriended him as he wandered alone.

These are the top 10 anime like Demon Slayer. The second season of Demon Slayer will be released in 2021. Luckily, the Demon Slayer Movie Mugen train is already out and doing very well at the box office. If you know of any anime that we’ve missed, please let us know in the comments.
